Ravin Garg, M.D.

Ravin Jain Garg, M.D. is a board certified Oncologist and Hematologist who joined Maryland Oncology Hematology on October 2020.

He was born and raised in Michigan.  He was awarded the Regents Alumni Scholarship and attended the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor for his Undergraduate studies.  He received a B.S. degree in Microbiology and was elected into both the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi Honor societies. He then attended Medical School at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, which is ranked as one of the best Medical Schools in the country.  While there, he was awarded the Humanism in Medicine Award given to the one graduating Medical student who displayed the highest level of kindness and empathy.

He then attended the University of Michigan—Ann Arbor for both his Internship and Internal Medicine Residency.  Prior to starting his Hematology and Oncology fellowship, he was an Instructor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins where he cared for patients and taught the Medical Residents at Johns Hopkins.

He completed his Hematology and Oncology fellowship at world-renowned, MD Anderson Cancer Center located in Houston, TX.  It is the #1 Ranked Cancer Center in the entire country.  He excelled academically there and was voted as the top graduating Oncology fellow.  During his time there, he published several research articles that appears in prestigious medical journals.  Due to his love and passion for teaching, he was elected and served as the Chief Fellow for Education.  During his time there, he won the Best Teaching Award.

From 2011 to present he has also been an invited speaker at the M.D. Anderson Board Review Course.  Hundreds of Hematologists and Oncologists across the country attend this lecture series to prepare for the Hematology and Oncology Board Examinations.

From 2012 to present, he has been an Assistant Professor of Oncology at Johns Hopkins Hospital.  On Thursdays, he helps staff the fellows clinic, conducts case-based weekly morning reports and gives board review lectures.

He is the founder and writer of all 2300+ Board Review questions/answers contained in Hemeoncquestions.com.  It is considered the premier Board Review website in the country that has been used by over 9000 Hematologists/Oncologists all over the world.

From 2011 to present, he has consistently been voted as one of the best Hematologist/Oncologists in both What’s Up? Annapolis and The Capital’s Annual Reader’s Choice Award.

Dr. Garg is a voracious reader.  He greatest joy is spending time with his wife and two young sons.  He loves to visit museums, spend time at Barnes and Noble and take walks in the woods.  He loves to watch movies and is a diehard sports fan
