David E. Weng, MD, Ph.D. joined Maryland Oncology Hematology October 2020. Dr. Weng is a board-certified medical oncologist with expertise in clinical care and research for patients with many kinds of solid tumor and hematologic diseases since completing medical school at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1992. He graduated from Harvard College in 1984 with a degree in biochemical sciences.
Dr. Weng provides compassionate and state-of-the-art patient care that is devoted to understanding, effectively communicating, and fully meeting the needs of each person and his/her family. He has practiced at leading academic medical centers such as the Cleveland Clinic, the National Cancer Institute, and Johns Hopkins Hospital, and in community medical centers throughout Maryland and Ohio. He has been an educator of the next generation of oncologists, directing the hematology/oncology fellowship training program at the Cleveland Clinic.
He has extensive research expertise in the laboratory and in clinical trials through his work in the pharmaceutical industry and leading academic institutions, with many publications, patents and invited talks during his career. He continues his work in clinical research as a member of the many clinical trials offered by Maryland Oncology Hematology and assisting patients to find and evaluate options at leading academic medical centers.
