Biography

Dr. Xiao-Wei (Cherie) Tan is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. She provides comprehensive, patient-centered cancer care with expertise across solid tumors, hematologic malignancies, and the latest advances in targeted and immunotherapy treatments.

Dr. Tan earned her Bachelor of Medical Sciences with Distinction from the University of Western Ontario before obtaining her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine and Life Sciences. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, followed by fellowship training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Maryland Marlene & Stewart Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she served as chief fellow.

She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology, and is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American Society of Hematology (ASH).

Dr. Tan has contributed extensively to oncology research, with publications in peer-reviewed journals focusing on immunotherapy, breast cancer, lymphoma, cardio-oncology, and patient-centered care. Her research has been presented at national meetings, including the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. She has also been recognized for her commitment to medical education, receiving the Excellence in Teaching Award during her residency training and serving as a lecturer and mentor for medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Tan is passionate about helping patients navigate their cancer journey with compassion, clear communication, and access to the most advanced treatment options available. She believes in a multidisciplinary approach that combines evidence-based medicine, personalized treatment planning, and supportive care to achieve the best possible outcomes for her patients.

In her free time, Dr. Tan enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and exploring local restaurants.
