Biography

Dr Shannon O’Connor is a board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist and has been with Maryland Oncology/Hematology (MOH) since 2012 after completing her residency and fellowship at The Georgetown University/Washington Hospital center training program. Her focus is women’s health, with a specialty in breast cancer, gynecologic malignancies and hereditary risk assessment.

She completed the City of Hope Intensive Course in Genomic Cancer Risk Assessment in 2015 and built the Genetic Risk assessment program at MOH and leads the high-risk breast clinic there as well. She served on the US Oncology GREAT (Genetic Risk Evaluation and Testing) executive committee for 6 years before being appointed as Medical Director in 2024. She is also the Chair of the Genetics program for MOH, Adventist Hospital and is very active in the breast, Gynecologic and breast tumor boards and cancer committees. In her free time, Dr O’Connor enjoys traveling with her family and spending time outdoors.
