Leslie Lawson, BSN, FNP-BC, has worked as a family nurse practitioner since 2013. Prior to finishing her master’s degree, Leslie had extensive critical care experience in the ambulatory surgery setting including preoperative, intraoperative and post-operative care, as well as maintaining Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification. After completing her master’s degree, Leslie practiced internal medicine for almost a decade- first in Savannah, Georgia, and most recently, in Bowie, Maryland, focusing on a patient-centered, evidence-based approach of adults throughout their lifespan. Utilizing a holistic approach regarding patient care, she was able to incorporate patient preferences and combine these with evidence-based recommendations to tailor treatment plans, which encouraged patient’s compliance, as well as improved patient’s health. She has provided a wide range of care to her patients including treating complex conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, depression and anxiety. Over the years, Leslie became increasingly interested in caring for patients with cancer and blood disorders and chose to join Maryland Oncology Hematology to follow this passion in 2022. Since joining Maryland Oncology and Hematology, she has provided quality focused care to medical oncology and hematology patients including regular patient follow up, evaluation and treatment of both chemotherapy and immunotherapy side effects as well as management of acute response to reactions in the infusion setting. She has also been able to use her experience in internal medicine to enhance medical management and response to treatment.

Leslie earned a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Gonzaga University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Pacific Lutheran University, both in Washington State. Leslie also served in the United States Army as an officer, attaining the rank of Captain. Leslie continues to work on furthering her education and pursuing a specialization in hematology and medical oncology to further enhance her patient care.

Leslie is originally from Boise, Idaho. She relocated with her family to the Annapolis area in 2016 and lives in Severna Park, Maryland. In her personal time, Leslie enjoys spending time with her family- enjoying nature and multiple outdoor sports, including running and competitive horseback riding.
