Biography
Dr. Peter Graze is a graduate of Tufts University (Phi Beta Kappa, 1967) and Harvard Medical School (1971). He completed his internal medicine internship and residency at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA, and then completed his fellowship in hematology and oncology at the UCLA Center for Health Sciences in Los Angeles, CA. He served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at UCLA, where he pioneered autologous bone marrow transplantation and participated in early research on graft versus host disease. Subsequently, he served as a Professor of Medicine at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. He was Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1974, in Medical Oncology in 1979, and in Hematology in 1982.
In 1992, Dr. Graze moved to Annapolis and joined a multispecialty group practice that became the Annapolis Oncology Center in 1999. In 2020, Dr. Graze proudly joined his team of colleagues at Maryland Oncology Hematology as part of the Annapolis Office.
Dr. Graze has made the Annapolis area his home and has served as medical Co-Director of Hospice of the Chesapeake—which helps provide our community hospice and multi-faceted supportive care for our families and their loved ones affected by advanced illness—for 13 years. He is a charter member of the American Academy of Hospice ad Palliative Medicine. Dr. Graze also served as President of the Maryland and District of Columbia Society of Oncology (MDCSCO) for 14 years and currently continues his collaboration with this esteemed group as a Board Member. “As a student, I initially anticipated a career in molecular biology, but found the personal interactions with people and the ability to relieve suffering much more satisfying which led to my calling as a clinician for more than 45 years.”
When not working, you might find Dr. Graze on a local tennis court or playing the 5-string banjo.
