Biography

Neha Bhooshan, MD, PhD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist at Maryland Oncology Hematology. Dr. Bhooshan attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she received both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Engineering in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. She then attended The University of Chicago Biological Sciences Division, where she earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Medical Physics before receiving her medical degree at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Bhooshan completed her residency at Inova Fairfax Hospital/Georgetown University Transitional Residency Program and the University of Maryland, where she also served as chief resident.

Following her residency, Dr. Bhooshan practiced as an attending physician in the department of radiation oncology at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Harrisburg, PA. While in this position, she served as a member of the Relationship-Based Care Committee, which focused on developing and building relationships between caregivers and patients. Prioritizing the partnership between the healthcare team and the patient remains an essential part of her practice.

Dr. Bhooshan treats cancer with leading-edge radiation therapy techniques, including three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy, intensity modulated radiotherapy/volumetric modulated arc therapy, stereotactic body radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and high-dose rate brachytherapy.

Dr. Bhooshan has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, including articles in the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics and Nuclear Medicine Communications. She participated in UPMC’s Healthier You podcast, developing and appearing in the episodes “Radiation Therapy for Cancer Treatment,” “The Role of Radiation Therapy in the Treatment of Breast Cancer,” and “The Role of Radiation Therapy in the Treatment of Lung Cancer.”

Outside of work, Dr. Bhooshan enjoys hiking, tennis, and spending time with her husband and two children.
