Samir Kanani, MD, is a board-certified radiation oncologist with Maryland Oncology Hematology. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch before completing a transitional year internship at Penn State Lehigh Valley. He then completed a residency in radiation oncology at the University of Maryland, where he also served as chief resident.

Dr. Kanani has clinical expertise in treating prostate cancer, brain tumors, lung cancer, liver metastasis, and GI cancers. He is experienced in using the latest advancements in radiation therapy, including stereotactic body radiation therapy, brachytherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, intensity-modulated radiation therapy, and spine radiosurgery.

A highly respected expert in his field, Dr. Kanani was recognized as a Washingtonian Top Doctor from 2008 to 2023. He formerly held academic appointments at the University of Virginia School of Medicine Inova Campus, George Washington University, and the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Kanani is a member of the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology and the American Brachytherapy Society.
