Biography
Amy is a certified oncology clinical social worker who has dedicated her over 20-year career to caring for the oncology population. Her clinical practice focuses on helping patients and families navigate the emotional impact and practical implications of life with cancer. Counseling support is available to patients and families throughout all phases of the cancer continuum including diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, advanced disease, and bereavement. Issues commonly addressed include:
- Adjustment to illness
- Coping with mental health concerns (distress, depression, anxiety, fear, uncertainty)
- Caregiver support
- Communicating about your illness to friends/family/workplace
- Family impact: couples coping, balancing work/family/illness, how to talk with children
- Transitions in care (survivorship, advanced disease)
- Treatment decision making, goals of care and advance care planning
- Finding support resources in community
