Recognized as one of the country’s top Gynecologic Oncologists by US News and World Report, Castle Connolly TOP DOCTORS, the Consumer Research Council, and Consumer Checkbook Magazine. Dr Steren is also recognized by his colleagues in Washingtonian Magazine Top Docs, and Bethesda Magazine Top Docs.

He completed his undergraduate degree at Duke University and graduated with distinction from the George Washington University Medical school and was selected to the prestigious AOA medical honor society. Dr Steren did his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and his Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship at The University of Miami/Jackson Medical Center. Dr Steren is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as Gynecologic Oncology and one of the few recognized by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology with a focus on minimally invasive surgery.

Having done the  first gynecologic Robotic procedure in Montgomery County he continues to train physicians from around the country in minimally invasive and robotic gynecologic surgical procedures. He has served on the Maryland Governors Council on Cancer and the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society. He has previously served as the Medical Director of the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery, The Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship of the National Capitol Consortium, Chairman of the  Department of Gynecology and the Medical Director of  Gynecologic Oncology. Dr Steren holds faculty appointments at George Washington University  Medical School and The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences.

Dr Steren is recognized and sought out for his surgical expertise in Benign and Malignant conditions of the female reproductive tract.
